Losses extended as GDP shrinks

The markets extended its losses during the midday with the Dow tumbling 90 points to 18,065 as the nation's gross domestic product shrank by 0.7% in the first quarter. Nasdaq fell 13 points to 5,084.

On the upside

ITT Educational Services (NYSE: ESI) swung to a profit for 2014.

MagnaChip Semiconductor (NYSE: MX) narrowed first quarter losses more than expected prompting an upgrade.

Shares of Vascular Biogenics (Nasdaq: VBLT) continued rising.

On the downside

Pacific Sunwear (Nasdaq: PSUN) reported a wider than expected loss for the first quarter as revenue fell.

Greif (NYSE: GEF) cut its full year earnings guidance.

Investors continued to lock in profits on PlasmaTech Biopharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: PTBI).

In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of nearly 5 to 2 on the NYSE and by more than 2 to 1 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 fell 7 points to 2112. Bitcoin slipped $1 to $236.
